The following information is to assist you with configuring your email client to the new Friendly City email service powered by Google Apps  Please be sure to enter your email address as This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it any place in the instructions where it states to use This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  Also, regardless of what the instructions state for Google Apps users, the incoming mail server is pop.gmail.com and the outgoing mail server is smtp.gmail.com.  Please pay close attention to the inbound mail server port number and outbound mail server port number - they are different than your typical configuration because Google Apps requires a secure connection in both directions.

Re: Configuring your email client to access Friendlycity.Net email via Google Apps

Since the start of the migration to google apps I have been receiving other people's email. Their email addressess are not even close to mine. Much of the content is sexually inappropriate the rest is information on computer technology and software. None of it is related to anything I would normally receive. Why is this happening now?

Re: Configuring your email client to access Friendlycity.Net email via Google Apps

I've tried to set this up with outlook but can't get it to connect. I've changed the Gmail password and have entered the all of the info into outlook but I get connection errors. What is the correct incoming server address? I've tried webmail.friendlycity.net and pop.gmail.com.

Re: Configuring your email client to access Friendlycity.Net email via Google Apps

Thank you for your response.
I read the instructions several times prior to trying to make the change. The instructions do not specify what incoming POP3 server address.
Quoted from the instructions on the link specified.

"Server Information

Account Type: POP3

Incoming mail server: pop.gmail.com (Google Apps users, enter the server names provided, don't add your domain name in these steps)

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com"

Re: Configuring your email client to access Friendlycity.Net email via Google Apps

The incoming mail server name is pop.gmail.com.

The outgoing mail server name is smtp.gmail.com.

I will clarify at the beginning of this post.

Sorry for the confusion.

Re: Configuring your email client to access Friendlycity.Net email via Google Apps

You list a lot of email clients to get instructions for configuring, but you don't list Incredimail.  Can you give me a link to get instructions for configuring Incredimail to access Friendlycity.net email via Google Apps? ???

Re: Configuring your email client to access Friendlycity.Net email via Google Apps

Incredimail is not listed because it is not one of the widely used email clients according to most email providers (including Gmail).  However, I did a quick search for you and found the following link on IncrediMail's help site that should provide you with the information you need.  Just remember this document is for people who are trying to configure IncrediMail for the regular gmail service, so be sure to put your " This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it " email address when asked instead of the "@gmail" it suggests.

Here's another link also.  The IncrediMail link doesn't seem to show you that you must change the port numbers for the incoming and outgoing mail server.

Re: Configuring your email client to access Friendlycity.Net email via Google Apps

Just tried to convert Outlook over to the new Google app.  I followed your instructions to a tee - however, when I try to test my account settings in Outlook, I get an error when I try to send a test message:

Send test e-mail message: The operation timed out waiting for a response from the sending (SMTP) server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).

Any ideas?  Could this be a firewall issue?

Contact tech support - they can use TeamViewer and walk you through the settings.

Contact 382-2494 and speak to Jody or Colt.  They should be able to set your password to something shorter so that you may activate the account.
